Acute
Malnutrition

Of the 66 districts analyzed in the 11 provinces of the country that suffered shocks, it is estimated that around 210,000 children aged between 6 and 59 months are suffering and could suffer from acute malnutrition in the next 12 months. In regards to the severity of the situation, in the current period from May to September 2023, in the areas assessed within the district of Palma in Cabo Delgado, the situation was classified in IPC Phase 4 (Critical). In the other 7 districts throughout the country, the situation was classified as IPC AMN Phase 2 (Alert). During the projection period - October 2023 to March 2024 - it is expected that the situation, in Palma will remain in IPC AMN Phase 4 (Critical), taking into account the increasing movement of populations returning to their areas of origin, the lack of humanitarian assistance and the inefficiency of social and health infrastructures.
