I. GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS - Use of the IPC Info Website 

A. Definitions  

IPC GSU: the IPC Global Support Unit (GSU) is the entity mandated by the IPC 15 global partner organizations to implement the IPC initiative under a global strategic programme. It is the entity that manages the “Site”. 

The “Site” or IPC Website: the website hosted under the domain http://www.ipcinfo.org/ , all of its subdomains, pages, static and dynamic content.  

IPC results: are the various representation of the IPC analyses conclusions and include, but are not limited to, briefs or reports, population estimates tables by IPC Phases or Levels, geographic representations such as maps, GeoJson files, vector tiles.   

User: Any organization or individual who accesses and uses the IPC Website. 

B. Content Sharing 

Unless otherwise indicated, the content of the IPC website may be copied and downloaded for personal use, research and teaching purposes (fair use).  

For use in non-commercial products or services beyond fair use, the IPC Global Support Unit (GSU) grants permission to the User to visit the Site and to download or copy the IPC information and materials from the Site as long as: 

  • appropriate acknowledgement of the IPC as the source is clearly stated; 
  • the IPC’s endorsement of Users' views, products or services is not stated or implied in any way; 
  • and without any right to resell them, subject to these Terms of Use and our data licensing agreement.  

IPC results published on this website are subject to and governed by Creative Commons (see details in chapter C. Data Licensing).  

C. Data Licensing  

All IPC results are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share-Alike 3.0 IGO (CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 IGO) and can be reused under these terms.

If you wish to obtain rights beyond the ones granted by the CC license or if you have any doubts on the type of use allowed under this licensing, please contact us. 

IPC results are shared under a non-commercial license. The IPC GSU has made provisions for the following exceptions to the Non-Commercial attribute:  

The IPC GSU allows for IPC results to be used for non-profit fundraising purposes. This covers the process of soliciting donations or voluntary financial contributions by non-profit organizations with the aim of supporting humanitarian and development projects or activities.  

If you have any doubt on the use of our data under this intended use, please contact us. 

For any other commercial use, please contact us and provide a detailed explanation of the intended use. We will get back to you as quickly as possible.  

Finally, the IPC is guided by humanitarian principles1. It does not endorse any use of its data for activities that would go against such principles, especially “Do No Harm”. The IPC rejects and forbids any use of its data for military purposes. 

We encourage all IPC results Users to carefully weigh the implications of datasets aggregation (including with non-IPC datasets) and disaggregation; understanding the risks of potential de-anonymisation of data and at-risk groups identification.  

IPC GSU platforms include data that are provided by third parties, such as the Cadre Harmonisé, which may not be redistributed or reused without the consent of the original data provider, or may be subject to terms and conditions which are different than those of the IPC website. 

D. Third Party Content 

The IPC website may include third party copyright material for which rights and permissions must be obtained from the copyright holder(s) indicated. This is the case for most photographs used on the Site. The copyright holder(s) is clearly labeled and should be contacted to request permissions to use said content.  

The Site may contain links and references to third party websites. The linked sites are not under the control of the IPC GSU, and the IPC GSU is not responsible for the content of any linked site. The IPC provides these links only as a convenience, and the inclusion of a link or reference does not imply the endorsement of the linked Site by the IPC. 

E. Disclaimers  

The designations employed and the presentation of information on the IPC website do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the IPC GSU concerning the legal or development status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.  

Under no circumstances shall the IPC GSU be liable for any loss, damage, liability or expense suffered that is claimed to result from the use of information posted on this Site, including without limitation, any fault, error, omission, interruption or delay. 

II. PRIVACY POLICY  

The IPC GSU is committed to treating your personal data fairly, with integrity, responsibility, security, and transparency. 

The IPC GSU only collects and processes your personal information for two specific purposes:  

  • To allow Users to subscribe to IPC mailing list; 
  • To analyze visits to the Site with the aim of improving the User’s experience;

Mailing list 

Users of the Site can voluntarily subscribe or opt-in to the IPC mailing list. It is optional and does not condition the access to the IPC website or its content.  

The mailing list is used to send email notifying the User of new publications and monthly summaries of IPC actualities.  

For the sole purpose of providing this service, the IPC GSU collects, at the moment of registration, the User’s email, first and last name, and the organization to which they are affiliated. 

The User is free to cancel the subscription at any point by clicking on the unsubscribe link present in each email sent.  

To request other modifications or exercise your right of access, please contact us via email as indicated in the section V. CONTACT US. 

Personal information collected and used for the purpose of information via our newsletter is never shared with third parties and is treated as confidential. Your personal data will be kept by IPC GSU and its authorized service providers only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Terms of Use. 

Cookies 

By accessing the Site, certain information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, navigation through the Site, the browser used and the time spent, along with other similar information, will be stored on our servers and on a third party analytics software. This information is treated confidentially.  

This is done by using cookies and Google analytics. This information is never connected to any personal information that visitors supply to us. The User is always free to decline our cookies if their browser permits. 

The purpose of this data collection is to understand better the preferences of the Site’s visitors and improve their experience on our pages.  

III. NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES 

The IPC reserves the right to amend this policy at its own discretion. Notifications of any significant amendment will be posted on this page. 

IV. ADDITIONAL TERMS 

In addition, supplemental Privacy Policy or Terms of Use may apply to particular Services, such as the IPC API. All such Supplemental Terms will be accessible for you to read either within, or through your use of, that particular Service.
