The first in-country IPC Level 2 Training in Bangladesh was successfully conducted from 7 to 10 June 2014. The Training was led by the IPC Country Support Officer and the IPC Regional Coordinator for Asia, with support from the Food Planning and Monitoring Unit at the Ministry of Food - Govt. of Bangladesh. 21 IPC Analysts from government, national, international and UN organizations participated in the training.

The training achieved its objective of enhancing the national capacity to conduct IPC Level 1 Trainings. In particular, participants acquired the necessary knowledge to:

  • Co-Lead IPC Level 1 Trainings;
  • Co-Facilitate IPC Analysis Workshops;
  • Explain technical and process issues of IPC.

Participants found the workshop very useful. In particular, the review of the IPC procedures and tools for acute food insecurity analysis further clarified the questions on the IPC Reference tables for Area and Household food insecurity analysis, use of direct and indirect indicators and population estimation. Some of the participants, who have been conducting IPC analyses for some time, felt confident in co-facilitating IPC Level 1 and 2 trainings in future.
