In West Africa the IPC continues to support to development of the Cadre Harmonisé (CH). A team of technical experts (CH Technical Committee) including representatives from CILSS, WFP, FAO, FEWS NET, Oxfam, ACF, Save the Children, with the participation of the IPC Global Support Unit (GSU), is leading technical consultations towards the drafting of the CH Manual Version 2.0, with inclusion of elements of the IPC Manual Version 2.0.

Since January 2013, the methodology, tools and procedures of the CH have been tested in six countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Senegal and Chad) with the aim of developing the final version of the CH Manual by the end of the year. From June, the CH has been also introduced in six additional countries: Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry, Gambia, Cape Verde and Togo.

A further round of tests, associated with CH analysis, is foreseen in November 2013, so that the results can be used to inform the Country and Regional Programming in the context of the PREGEC (Food Crisis Prevention Network in the Sahel and West Africa, RPCA). Differences in indicators between CH and IPC still exist, and discussions on CH compliance with the IPC are currently on-going, as part of the development of the final version of the CH Manual 2.0.
