IPC in Southern Africa 2013

The IPC initiative in Southern Africa is guided and implemented within the region through Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Regional Vulnerability Assessment Committee (RVAC) of the Southern Africa Development Community. There is a well-established system of National Vulnerability Assessment Committees (NVACs) that are linked and supported by the SADC RVAC. IPC Global Initiative 2013

The IPC Status in Yemen

Overall, the IPC pilot project in Yemen, led by FAO, contributed to improving the capacity of relevant Government institutions in food security analysis, specifically by:

The IPC status in Malawi

Mortality among populations of Southern and Central Somalia affected by severe food insecurity and famine 2010-2012

This study was commissioned by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET).

The report concludes that a very large number of people (very probably between 143,000 and 273,000, and more likely to be closest to our best estimate of 258,000) died in southern and central Somalia as a result of the food insecurity emergency of 2010-2012. An [...]
