The IPC initiative in Southern Africa is guided and implemented within the Region through the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Regional Vulnerability Assessment Committee (RVAC). In Asia the IPC took off in 2011 thanks to a regional project funded by ECHO, which provided support in the implementation of country-level IPC trainings and capacity building. The Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom is supporting the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Initiative through a 3-year grant project of GBP 1.7 million that started in March 2012.
