The Global IPC Partnership Programme is off to a strong start with the appointment of Ms. Cindy Holleman as the new IPC Global Program Manager for the period 2013-2015.

Ms. Holleman serves in a global role and is responsible for implementing a multi-year IPC strategy in line with the Global IPC Partnership objectives and overseeing the management of the programme; the relations with partners and donors; and the IPC technical development and capacity-building activities worldwide.

Ms. Holleman brings to the role a wealth of experience with more than eighteen years of active engagement in the field of food security, early warning and information systems, disaster risk reduction and management, and she is one of the original co-developers of the IPC. She has been working for FAO since January 2004 in various capacities, initially as Food Security Technical Manager for the FAO Somalia Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU), then as Chief Technical Adviser for the same unit from 2007 to 2010, and until early 2013 as Head of Office of the FAO Sub-Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for Southern Africa. Ms. Holleman has also worked with other key international organizations, including the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), FEWS NET, WFP, SC (UK), CARE, and the World Bank.

After having succeeded the open and competitive selection process led by the IPC Global IPC Steering Committee, Ms. Holleman took up the role with immediate effect in March 2013.
