IPC EVENTS

The first Level 2 IPC Regional Training in Asia was successfully conducted from the 19th to the 22nd of November at FAO Regional Office in Bangkok. This training was led by the IPC Regional Coordinator for Asia, Siddharth Krishnaswamy, along with support from the WFP Regional VAM unit as well as various participants who have conducted several IPC Analyses in the past year and a half.

The aim of this Training was to ensure that participants are able to:

• Lead IPC Trainings
• Lead IPC Analyses
• Represent the pool of IPC Experts in forums
• Be part of a roster of experts than can be called upon by the IPC Global Support Unit and Regional and National Technical Working Groups

This is a crucial factor to ensure that in Asia IPC evolves into a tool that is (1) institutionalized within national frameworks and (2) and is instrumental in aiding policy formulation.

IPC analysts who have completed all the necessary criteria to be eligible for the Level 2 training were selected from the National Technical Working Groups. In total, 18 analysts from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Philippines as well as representatives from national governments, UNOs, international and national NGOs and  National Universities underwent Level 2 Training.
