The 3rd Synthesis Meeting was held in London, from 9 to 13 December 2013, after the previous meetings in Washington (March 2013) and Rome (May 2013).

The meeting was hosted by Save the Children, and the following agencies were represented: FANTA, FEWS NET, JRC, PRESANCA, Save the Children, WFP, and the World Bank.

At the end of the London meeting, the IPC Chronic Working Group members made substantial progress by reaching an agreement on many outstanding issues, such as: the relationship between chronic and acute food insecurity, the use of the non-exceptional year approach in the pilots, the validity period of the analysis, the elements of the Adapted Reference Table, and the need of a Chronic Manual and training materials.

The next stage is to make the necessary revisions to the current draft chronic analysis on basis of the lessons learned from all the four pilots, the work done by the sub-working groups, and the discussions in the London meeting. The ultimate goal is to release the version 1.0 of the IPC Chronic Food Insecurity Analysis by April 2014.
