IPC EVENTS

Various technical issues have emerged from the development of the IPC Chronic Protocols, the lessons learnt from implementation of IPC Acute, and from piloting the IPC Acute Malnutrition prototype. To address these issues, the IPC Chronic WG will be reconstituted as the IPC Food Security Working Group (IPC FSWG) to consolidate learning and support progress towards harmonization of the three current IPC tools. The IPC FSWG will work with the IPC Nutrition Working Group (IPC NWG) to capture cross-cutting lessons learned to prepare and develop a consolidated, articulated, and harmonized Integrated Food and Nutrition Security Phase Classification System that consists of the three IPC Classification scales (IPC Acute Food Insecurity, IPC Acute Malnutrition, and IPC Chronic Food Insecurity). The IPC GSU will coordinate the working groups with strategic direction from the IPC Steering Committee (SC) and technical guidance from IPC Technical Advisory Group (TAG). The full Terms of Reference for the FSWG should be used as reference.

The purpose of the IPC FSWG is to provide technical expertise and guidance for the preparation of the following outputs in 2015 and 2016:

•Updates and revisions to Version 2.0 of the IPC Technical Manual

•Together with the IPC NWG support in the harmonisation process
