IPC EVENTS

South Sudan is ravaged by an armed conflict which started in mid-December 2013 and has continued and spread to new areas until now. In the past couple of months there have been increasing estimates that the seriousness of the food security situation is approaching a famine, and this increased the importance of the IPC analysis which took place in April 2014.

The IPC analysis workshop took place in Yei in Central Equatoria State, and had altogether about 60 participants from all ten states of South Sudan. Most states had, before the national workshop, held their own two-day Livelihood Analysis Forums where they had conducted preliminary IPC analysis. In some states, especially the conflict-affected, this had not been possible before the national workshop. All states nevertheless gave a presentation in the beginning of the workshop on the situation in their areas, and this presentation formed the basis of the subsequent analysis.
