The IPC Chronic Food Insecurity Analysis approach and tools were launched and rolled out in June-August 2014, and altogether eight chronic food insecurity analyses were planned for the period between September 2014 and January 2015. These analysis workshops have either already taken place, or are shortly expected to be implemented in Zimbabwe, El Salvador, Bangladesh, Burundi, Nepal, Philippines, Kenya, and Uganda (in chronological order), with active participation of the country IPC National Technical Working Groups (TWG) and the IPC global partner agencies, under the coordination of the IPC Global Support Unit (GSU).

The IPC GSU included a lessons learning process as an integral part of the chronic food insecurity analysis roll-out process, in order to review the tools and approach on the basis of field feedback. From 25 to 27 February 2015, the results of the lessons learning activities will be presented in a consolidated manner during the IPC-Chronic Lessons Learning workshop, hosted by the IPC GSU.

The IPC-Chronic lessons learning process includes four different activities:

1. Group feedback obtained in plenary during IPC Chronic Analysis workshop: These one to two hour sessions will be tailed to the IPC analysis workshop to allow Country Technical Working Groups to reflect on their analysis and provide group feedback to the GSU on IPC-Chronic tools, procedures and processes. These sessions will be led by the TWG Chairs or appointed focal point based on the self-assessment tool displayed in the Information Support System (ISS) and on  an on-line survey.

2. Individual Feedback from members from National TWG to obtain systematic individual expert feedback on IPC tools, procedures and processes after the analysis workshops. All individuals will be asked to complete a specific on-line survey.

3. Key informant interviews: Includes in-depth interviews with selected key informants including country TWG Chairs and key members, IPC GSU staff and Global Partners.

4. Validation of IPC Chronic Tools and Procedures: GSU together with partners will assess the value added and challenges of using selected approaches in the first months of IPC Chronic application.

Following the IPC-Chronic Lessons Learning Workshop, the IPC Chronic Working Group will meet to discuss and decide on potential updates and improvements of the IPC-Chronic v1.0 tools and procedures.
