New! - Piloting the IPC and strengthening the Food Security Monitoring System in Honduras
WFP Honduras Country Office (CO) in coordination with WFP Food Security Analysis Service (HQ) and WFP Regional Bureau (RB) will test the use of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) to provide a common understanding of the current level of food insecurity and of the most food insecure areas in the country and identify the underlying causes of food insecurity. The main objective of the pilot exercise in the country is to create a Honduras Food Security Analysis map, based on the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification system which will be complementary to the existing WFP Honduras Food Security Monitoring System. Upcoming events: 1) IPC training and awareness raising the week of April 26; 2) the technical meeting on adaptation of IPC methodology to Honduras the first week of May; 3) National consultation/IPC analysis) during the second week of May.

Updated! - IPC Regional Workshops and National Consultation in Tajikistan
WFP Tajikistan Country Office developed an IPC strategy for 2010 in order to capitalize on the successful experience of the IPC pilot last year. As part of that strategy, a round of regional IPC workshops was organized to achieve a more in-depth IPC situation analysis with greater resolution at the sub-national level. During the regional workshops government representatives and international as well as local NGOs and other partners in the respective regions provided technical inputs and endorsed the results. A national consultation also took place to share and validate the results of the regional workshops by the food security stakeholders at the national level including the Government and members of the Food Security Cluster.

New! - IPC Activities in Zimbabwe
From March to June 2010
A number of key events will be taking place in the country from March to June in order to strengthen the national capacities in undertaking IPC analysis. Forthcoming workshops are: 1) “IPC and Zimbabwe: From concepts to data needs” - March 2010; 2) “IPC and Zimbabwe: Field Trial” - April 2010; 3) “IPC and Zimbabwe: IPC Analyses Workshop” – May 2010. An awareness raising strategic plan has been also prepared covering the period from March to June 2010.

Post Deyr ’09/10 Assessment Analysis
The Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU) and FEWSNET gave a presentation on the Post Deyr ’09/10 Assessment Analysis during a Special SSS FSEDSC Meeting held on January 29th 2010. A final IPC analysis (and a comparison with the previous IPC map) integrates all of the sectoral data/analysis into an overall assessment of the current situation.
