The purpose of this document is to provide standardized guidance to country gFSC and IPC Technical Working Groups (TWG) on collaboration at country level for effective planning of IPC analysis and use of its findings to inform humanitarian plans and response

It highlights the issues related to the use of IPC in the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC) and outlines the actions and good practice for the gFSC and IPC National TWGs to strengthen cooperation at country level, especially in the following main areas

  • Bi-annual planning of IPC and HNO/HRP
  • Evidence retrieval and organization
  • IPC analysis planning and implementation 
  • Review, dissemination and use of the results of IPC analyses
  • IPC capacity building and certification

The guidance concludes with recommendations on the gFSC and the IPC Steering Committee/IPC GSU respective roles and areas of cooperation at global and regional level and in supporting countries. 

The note is the result of the collaboration between the global Food Security Cluster (gFSC) and the IPC Global Support Unit (IPC GSU) at global level.
