La Clasificación Integrada de la Seguridad Alimentaria en Fases (CIF) es un conjunto estandarizado de herramientas destinado a establecer un "lenguaje común" para clasificar la gravedad y la magnitud de la inseguridad alimentaria.
Este enfoque basado en la información utiliza normas internacionales que permiten comparar situaciones entre países y en el tiempo. La CIF se sustenta en procesos de generación de consensos que tienen por objeto proporcionar a los responsables de la toma de decisiones un análisis riguroso de la inseguridad alimentaria y opciones de respuesta tanto en un contexto de emergencia como en un contexto de desarrollo.
