Special Event on the IPC, 33rd Committee on World Food Security (CFS)

The Special Event ensued from a recommendation of the 32nd CFS meeting that FAO should ˜continue to develop and implement food security analysis and assessment tools such as the Integrated Food Security and Humanitarian Phase Classification" (October 2006).

Towards a common approach for Classifying Food Security in Developing Countries

The objective of the meeting was to consult with donors on supporting a common strategy to develop, implement and advocate a common standardized approach for classifying food security. The main outcome was the discussion of a proposal by seven agencies (FAO, WFP, CARE International, Oxfam GB, FEWSNET, and the Save the Children UK and Save the Children US) to support a common approach for further developing the IPC.
